New White Paper Published: Enhancing Language Teacher Education through Co-Designed Virtual Exchange
We are pleased to announce the publication of our new white paper,
“Enhancing Language Teacher Education through Co-Designed Virtual Exchange: Policy Recommendations for Curriculum-Embedded Implementation.”
This white paper, produced as an output of the GlobVELT UK–TR Project (Global Graduates through Virtual Exchange: A Model for Language Teachers and Internationalization in UK–Türkiye Higher Education), funded by the British Council Connect4Innovation Programme (2023–2025), offers policy recommendations and practical insights for integrating Virtual Exchange (VE) into language teacher education curricula.
The report highlights the transformative role of VE in promoting internationalisation, global competence, and inclusive teacher mobility, drawing on experiences from Gazi University, Newcastle University, and Ankara Provincial Directorate of National Education.
The white paper has been disseminated to the Ministry of National Education, higher education institutions, education faculties, and other key stakeholders through our project website and partner networks, to foster collaboration and inspire broader adoption of curriculum-embedded virtual exchange practices.
You can access our white paper in English and Turkish here.

These activities showcased our shared commitment to enhancing global competence, intercultural communication, and innovative virtual exchange practices.

Spreading Insights: Conferences & Publications from the GlobVELT Project
Between 2023 and 2025, we presented our research design, needs analysis results, and practical outputs from Global Graduates through Virtual Exchange (GlobVELT) at multiple international venues and public forums. These activities included invited talks on virtual exchange (VE), curriculum-embedded internationalization, and global competence; institutional workshops that doubled as open dissemination events; and conference presentations and booklets featuring studies conducted under the GlobVELT umbrella. Collectively, they extended the project’s reach from Türkiye and the UK to global audiences in Europe, Asia, and America, showcasing our model, training materials, and policy-facing outputs.
